DAAD Conference „Going Forward - Strategic Partnerships as a Driver for Internationalisation”, Berlin, 18 April 2016 [19.04.16]
The INEF-Network, represented by Professor Andreas Pyka from the University of Hohenheim, Professor Xu Qian from Southwestern University of Economics and Finance, and Tamara Almeyda, project coordinator of the INEF-Network participated in the conference „Going Forward - Strategic Partnerships as a Driver for Internationalisation” organized by the German Academic Exchange Service (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst – DAAD) on 18 April 2016 in Berlin.Two hundred participants from the DAAD-funded networks, universities and partner institutions joined the conference that provided an excellent opportunity to share experience and knowledge with the other networks.
Opening speeches where held by Ms. Cornelia Quennet-Thielen, State Secretary at the Federal German Ministry of Education and Research and Prof. Dr. Margret Wintermantel, President of DAAD. Later on, topics of the panel discussion and workshops included the sustainability of international partnerships, governance and communication, as well as new trends in the establishment of international relations in higher education. The INEF-Network was also presented at the poster session of the conference that opened many fruitful discussions between the participants.
Prof. Andreas Pyka, who represented both DAAD-funded networks from Hohenheim, INEF and BECY, also took part in the concluding plenary session of the conference where final remarks where communicated about the success factors of the DAAD-funded partnerships and networks. These included, amongst others, the embeddedness of the partnerships in the internationalization strategy of the university, personal contacts both at the academic as well as at the administrative levels and a long-term commitment of the institutions to develop and grow multilateral partnerships.
